I am happy about this... Weaved Wastebasket
This is first time I ever try to weave and I tell you it was error and trial. It was very hard for the paper strips to lay straight when I started to weave. I have so many magazines I like to refer to them from time to time. I had them in them in holders that I made myself from cereal boxes that I did last spring. Believe it or not, that wastebasket only took less 2 magazine (less than that). What I did was, take every page of the magazine....then fold in 1/2" creases all the length of the page till I had one complete strip. I make sure all the pages were colorful as I went through the magazine. As I approach the end of the page, I folded in the raw edge in....and hide it underneath the already folded end. This project took about 3-4 days to complete, of course with the needy breaks. I didn't have a wastebasket in one of my rooms and now, I have a very colorful one.

Fancy Memo board made with jeans, cardboard
I really can't believe myself. I just get through with a few Valentines crafts and I swore today that it was going to be a free day for me. It's not that I'm a avid crafter or anything, because I am far from that. I have 1/10 of the inventory that most crafters have their own places. Well, I looked in one of my closets and I saw that I had lot of corrugated cardboard, and jeans that I didnt want anymore and thought to myself.. hmm....that could be a craft or two. The wheels starting to spin and after bringing the materials to the front room and sitting there and thinking what was I going to do with cardboard and jeans, this is what I came with. This is the most time consuming project that I ever did. This was an all day craft, but I didnt care, I was not going anywhere. I hope that you like it.

Just a few Valentines Crafts...
After browsing what it seemed over 100 pictures of crafts that people post to their sites, I decided it was time to do some Valentine crafts. It is just a start, its about 1/4 of what I like to do but I can't really get out to get the supplies. I'm in the Midwest here and we are snowbound at the moment. Thankfully I am into recycling alot and I have stock of cardboard that I made hearts out of the cardboard. I cut the hearts out of cardboard the other the day, painted them, embellished them with glitter or sponged paintedt them (my favorite method of painting). I attached a curly ribbon to two sets of valentines and hung them on my wall, one is lower than the other with the curly part at the bottom. I did my second favorite thing was making paper flowers out of coffee filters. I did that in the spring and I have a rainbow of them in my bedroom in a big picture frame. Those are soo easy to do, I also put dabs of reds and pinks on the paper flowers so that they look roses. The pictures really came out really great.... so that is my kitchen counter and my wall with my first crafts for Valentine's Day.

New crafts for the New year.....
I was very crafty the last few days being that we were snow-bound and couldn't go outside. I am into recycled crafts and I did have fun coming up with a few ideas. I save cereal boxes whether they are cardboard boxes or the single containers that are round. I decoupaged a round cereal container with shades of yellow for my colored markers. I had a pop-up dispenser in the bathroom that I decoupaged with pages from a magazine. I did a memo board that cover a big portion on my kitchen wall from corrugated cardboard that I pained red, then put recipes and whatever I wanted to put on the memo board with colorful push pins. The containers that I covered with fabric are soft drink containers that I wrapped fabric around them and added a tea-light inside and it will glow at night anywhere you go.
Last year I repurposed cereal boxes to make magazine holders. The pictures of my new crafts and the magazine holders are pictured.

The place needs color now, took down the Christmas decs.
It was hard to take down the Christmas decorations this year for me. The lights and all the colors really made the place looked great. Now it's pale in comparison... but take heart .. because soon I will be doing some crafts for Valentines Day and put a few things colorful around the place. I have a vase in my bedroom that I made out of corrugated cardboard and made paper flowers out of coffee filters. Thats was in the fall when I made alot of crafts before Halloween. I had pieces of corrugated cardboard that I folded into a hexagon shape and then I used tacky glue to make a seam all the way down the vase. Then I sponge painted the vase, put glitter around the vase and made the paper flowers out of coffee filters.

My Christmas Visit
I spend Christmas at one of sister's house. We have a big family but we all live at different states. These year we decided to get together which was great. My mom and one of my sister's live in Florida and flew in to my sisters in Chgo. I took a train, which was a 2 1/2 hour trip. I can't complain about the trip, I bring my magazines and the trip goes really quick. My other sister from California could not make the trip. My sister that had the get together, she has three adult kids and each have their own kids. Well, suffice to say when everyone gets together theres is a crowd. My sister's house is always so cozy with her beautiful decorations and she's been collecting nutcrackers as long as I remember. She also collects old Santa's and put them on top of an entertainment center with a blanket of snow underneath with lights underneath. Her tree with all the ornaments is gorgeous and with the many gifts underneath is a beautiful site. She made up a cutest room for me while I was staying there. She had a Christmas scene quilt on the bed with throw pillows with the same pattern. There was a chair with stuffed animals on it. She had a side table with a fiber-optic snowman that I could turn on at night. My mom and my other sister had the room next door and their room was also cute with Christmas quilts on their beds. Besides of the anesthetics of the house, talk about food, we never saw so much in our lives, the treats that my sister put out. She still with her tradition with 10 or more kinds of Christmas cookies, bars that she bakes and she starts around 2 weeks prior to Christmas. She has the cookies in the dining room table in silver trays with tags labeled they are. We had a great time and they decided that they will do the same thing next year.
