My Christmas Decorations

I was in a mood to put up my Christmas decorations this year very eary and I am glad that I did.  Even though I live alone and have a small apartment, the little decorating I do... it looks like a Winter Wonderland when I get finished.  I have a credenza that I put a little winter scene on.  I start with fluff blanket on both shelves and put my cute ornaments on the white blanket and make it look like a winter scene.   One wall of my front room is all angels.  I have a circular table that I have a beautiful gold angel on  the top shelf, and at the botton shelf I have a fiber-optic angel.   The end table next to my futon I draped a velvet red skirt with blue lights underneath.  On top is my snow baby on a sleigh.  At night, the blue lights  shine through the red velvet skirt and it looks beautiful.   On top of my window sill I have a statue of a angel and smaller angels on the window sill.

On the wall as you can see I have a tapestry of a angel that lights up at night.  The light and garland along the ledge light up and the glass angel is fiber-optic and also illuminates.  You can see how I can be mesmerized with the lights and color in one room.  I have a small kitchen and I just have a few decorations in the kitchen. On the refrigerator are some of the crafts that I did a few weeks ago with the cut-out ornaments out of cardboard.  I put sticky magnets at the back of them and attached them to the fridge, I thought it was pretty neat idea.   The little wreath I made I put on the fridge also.

A few more crafts I did today

As you know I had alot of cardboard laying around, so I used a 12" circle to make a wreath.  I used tacky glue to put green tissue paper around it and I had cardboard strips from my other tree and I made holly and ivy on top of the wreath.   The tree that I made was from a paper towel that I sprayed painted green and the strips were spray painted green.  I hot glued the strips strategically arpound the paper towel tube till I got to the bottom of the tree.   I used plain glue and put some irredescent glitter on the tree.

Another wreath - smaller version

I made this wreath much smaller, this one is about 8" in diameter as opposed as 12".  I did the same thing, cut 2" strips of white plastic bags, tie them around wire form. I use 12 gauge wire and then bent a loop at the top. I use green curling ribbon for the bow and draped the rest of the ribbon.  I hot glued miniature ornaments around the wreath.  I think I like this wreath as much as the other one.

Cute Ornaments from cardboard

I had a template from last year with the stockings and the candy canes already.  All I had to do with cut more cardboard,, painted the ornaments and add white glitter to some parts of the stockings and candy canes.

The snowflakes are made from coffee filters.  I just folded each one in half, then in fourths, then again in eighths.  I snipped alot of the filter on each side.  Each filter was cut differently so that each one was distinct.

I finished some of my Christmas crafts.....I need a break

I started at 9:00 a.m today finishing the wreath and some other crafts I started the other day.  I love recycling crafts and you will see the wreath I made is made from white plastic bags from Walmart that I cut into 2" strips and then tied all around the wreath.  That took about 20 bags to do that. My wrist was so sore after tying all those plastic strips all around the wire form.  Those cute miniature ornaments, wire form and silver cording I bought at the craft store. That was the extent of the purchases for that craft and look how pretty it looked.

The cute scene you see in the container is from a powder drink container.  I cut a oval in the front, and used more miniatures from the craft store.  I cut a cute cartoon scene from an old greeting Christmas card from last year and glued it to the back wall of the container.  I used fake snow and glued it to the bottom and top of the house.  I glued one of the battery tea light to the plastic top to illuminate the scene.

The other scene I call it "Winter wonderland".  I am especially proud with that one.  The paper trees are from green construction that I painted and added glitter.  The fluffy blanket I had already from last year and hot glued it to a piece of cardboard.  I made hills from cotton balls, the pond is made from blue glitter.  The fake snow of course I had on hand.  All in all, the only purchase I had from the craft store from the miniature ornaments: about five or six packages of them (assorted), fake snow, silver cording.

My Crafts thus far

I started fall with my autumn crafts and my first craft with my recycled corrugated cardboard vase.  I had alot of corrugated cardboard from furniture that I purchased.  I put the cardboard in storage at that time and didn't think about using the cardboard at that time because I had company at that time.   I started in September with the crafts, I took one of the corrugated cardboard pieces and rolled out into a hexagon shape, and glued the seams with tacky glue.  Then sponge painted the whole vase with fall colors and when it dried, I splattered different colors of glitter all about the vase. I tucked the bottom of the vase in one side on top of the other, and put several sheets of newspaper inside so that when I bought fall stems they would stay put.  Then I did wood autumn plaques.  I bought some wood stain and stained the plaques and when they dried, I glittered real leaves around the border.   I stenciled one of the plaques with the word "Fall"" and put the plaques on my front door.

Waiting for an idea

Sitting at the computer looking at my emails and looking some of crafter's emails and their Christmas crafts thus far.  Some are just gorgeous and I am gawking looking at them and I wish mine were the same.  I spent all day Friday crafting.   I usually try at least 2 of 5 days to my crafts.  Not to say I have limited inventory to work with.  Usually I am into recycling crafts; cardboard, plastic, tin, any materials that could be used for crafts.  Between my crafts, I browse for recipes so that I can jot any recipes on my index cards, not that I do alot (not like my sister).  I think she starts about a week or two weeks prior to Christmas and I don't even know how many kinds of cookies she makes.  She makes roll cookies, bar cookies, drop cookies....dozens of them.  All I know her favorite of mine is her "apricot bars" and her "mint brownies"  are to die for.  For me....I don't have the patience ...nor the budget to buy the ingredients for cookies.  Tomorrow is Monday....I will finish a wreath that I made with white plastic bags that I cut into 2" strips and twist them all around around a wire form, and then attached tiny ornaments around the wreath and silver pearl cord as a bow and twirled around the wreath.  It took about 20 white plastic bags to cut 2" strips for one wreath.  Well....you will see it when it completed......MAYBE tomorrow.
